My autobiography

Hi, my name is Sofía Arriaza, I was born in Chillán on january 3, 2004, but I have lived all my life in Santiago of Chile, I am 19 years old and I am an only child.

When I was 3 years old I went to the Hamelin kindergarden. After that, when I was 6 years old I went to Santa Familia School, where I did all my basic and secondary education and after I finished high school I entered to University of Chile, studying dentistry. 

In my free time I like to go out with my friends. My favourite thing to do in summer is swimming. And I enjoy reading books, watching series or movies and listening to music, but now, with the University, I have to study in my free time.

My favourite piece of technology

My favorite technological device is my ipad. My first ipad was given to me when I was in highschool, after a few years it got spoiled, so I got another one when I entered University and since then it has been very useful, since I use it to take notes, do research or read. I like it because I can use it to study, but I can also watch series, movies or play games when I want to take a break, so I use it very often during the week. My life if I didn't have this technological device would not be very complex, it would only make it difficult for me in the academic field, because I would have to use other means to take notes with which I am much slower (like a notebook or a computer), but I wouldn't have any other major problem.

My favorite meal is pasta in alfredo sauce. This is a dish of Italian origin, which consists of a fettuccine pasta with a sauce made of butter and parmesan cheese. To make this food dish you have to cook the pasta in boiling water, then in a saucepan over medium heat you add the butter and cream, these we cook them until they are fully integrated and thicken a little, finally add parmesan cheese, stir until they have melted and add the chopped ham to the sauce. I am a big fan in general of all pastas, as they have a delicious flavor, for the great variety that exists and for how easy it is to cook them, but pasta in alfredo sauce is my favorite for the sauce, as it has cheese and cream. This food dish provides a high energy yield, so it is very good for people who perform high physical activity and generates nutritional benefits for intellectual performance, since it is nourished by glucose, which is found in carbohydrates and, therefore, in pasta.

Why did I choose this career?

When I was a child I dreamed of being a fashion designer, but I also wanted to be a chef and a veterinarian. Later, when I grew up, I wanted to be a kinesiologist or a doctor, at that time I wasn't sure what I wanted to study, but I knew I wanted something related to health. Then when I was 15 years old I decided to study dentistry, because it was the only health career that convinced me and I would like to dedicate myself, that is why I didn't had other career options at the moment of applying to university. So far things have been interesting, sometimes it's difficult, but it has good things.  I would like to get a job that pays well and where I do what I like.
